為什麼要使用人工培育林的木材製作環保家具？

或許有些人認為家具業者談原木保護是一種謬論，就如同魚翅商人提倡鯊魚保育。但是我們希望的是推動原木木材上的使用觀念，以及消費者在選購家具時的認知。
為什麼要使用人工培育林的木材製作環保家具？
全球森林面積的快速減少，使人類面臨了溫室效應、生物多樣性及水資源保育等問題，因此如何有效運用森林資源成為一重要課題。相對於其他產品，木製產品在製造或加工過程中所消耗的能量較少，而且具有儲存碳素之功能。在具有良好管理的人工林中進行木材生產，可以有效地運用森林資源，是一種值得鼓勵的方式。藉由疏伐作業之立木的移除，可導入林地各種闊葉樹木的侵入，致形成混合林，如此不僅可增加造林地樹種組成的多樣性，同時充分利用林地生長空間，提高林地之生產力，符合整體生命週期環境考量之木製家具產品，設計生產朝向省資源、低污染、可資源回收再利用的方向發展之木製家具，便是符合環保概念的家具。

Some people may point out the irony in an industry dependent on timber caring about the protection of our natural resources being similar to a shark fin salesman’s concern over the world’s shark population. But we are focused on promoting awareness in our customers regarding the use of solid wood and the sources from which this wood originates. When buying furniture, customers should be aware of where the materials come from.
The world’s forests are shrinking at an alarming rate. We are currently facing major problems with global warming, the loss of countless species of animals, and a lack of clean water resources. Therefore, how to use our forest resources effectively has become an important concern. Compared to other products, the process of manufacturing wooden products consumes much less energy and produces less harmful byproducts. Through the use of tree farms, we are able to reduce our overall impact on the environment, while making efficient use of this natural resource.
